BLADE RUNNER 2099 | EXCLUSIVE BEHIND-THE-SCENES IMAGES

For nearly five years, Blade Runner 2099 has remained one of the most closely guarded productions in science fiction. Aside from a handful of official announcements and casting news, fans have been given very little glimpse behind the curtain.

Today, Shoulder of Orion: The Blade Runner Podcast is pleased to share a collection of exclusive behind-the-scenes photographs from the Prague set of Blade Runner 2099, offering one of our first real looks at the series currently in production for Amazon.

The project was first revealed in late 2021, when Ridley Scott confirmed that a live-action Blade Runner television series was in development. Production would ultimately face delays caused by the 2023 Hollywood strikes before cameras finally rolled in Prague during 2024. After an extended production and post-production schedule, the series is now expected to premiere in 2026.

Amazon's official synopsis reads:

The series follows Cora, a chameleon-like fugitive in 2099 Los Angeles who assumes one final identity in a desperate attempt to secure her brother's future. Along the way, she forms an unlikely alliance with Olwen, a Replicant nearing the end of her life. Together, they become entangled in a conspiracy that threatens the future of the city.

Set fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the series represents the next chapter in a universe that many believed had reached a fitting conclusion with Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed sequel. While Blade Runner 2049 brought emotional closure to the story of Rick Deckard and Rachael, Blade Runner 2099 appears poised to explore new corners of this richly textured world.

Exactly how the series connects to the mythology established by Ridley Scott and Denis Villeneuve remains one of its biggest mysteries. Until Amazon is ready to reveal more, these exclusive photographs offer an early glimpse into the visual world being carefully crafted behind the scenes.

We hope you enjoy this first look at Blade Runner 2099.
